The International Ismailia Festival and the Royal Film Commission-Jordan (RFC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 15th edition of the Festival. The memorandum was signed by Amir Al Omari, the President of Ismailia Festival, and Shadi Al Nimri, Community Programs Manager at the RFC.

This MoU aims at spreading and nurturing film culture through organizing an event entitled the “Ismailia Film Days in Jordan.” During this annual event, the RFC will screen a selection of the films that competed at the Festival and will host a film specialist nominated to present the films and discuss them with the Jordanian audience.
Amir Al Omari expressed his happiness over the signing of the memorandum, adding that it reflects a sincere interest of the RFC in supporting the activities of the International Ismailia Festival and nurturing the awareness of the importance of documentaries and short films.

On his part, Shaidi Al Nimri pointed out that cooperation between the Ismailia Festival and the RFC falls within the RFC’s efforts to reinforce the connection with film Institutions in the Arab world. He added that the importance of this memorandum isn’t only in providing the audience with a large selection of quality films, not available in commercial theaters, but also in sharing Arab talents and promoting the distribution of short films and documentaries. Al Nimri praised also the role of the festival in this respect.

It is worth noting that in April 2010, the RFC has organized “The Ismailia Film Days in Amman” on its premises, in cooperation with the Festival’s organizers. A selection of films that had been screened during the 14th edition of the Festival were presented; in addition, several panel discussions were held around the films.

The RFC will soon be showcasing a selection of the films that participated in the 15th edition of the Ismailia Festival which received over 760 submissions.
