1. Call for submissions: Red Sea International Film Festival – Second Edition

The second edition of Red Sed International Film Festival (RSFF), which is scheduled to take place in Jeddah from December 1st until 10th, 2022 has opened a call for applicants from Arab, Asian, and African countries to submit their projects to compete in their Yusr Awards.

Established names as well as emerging filmmakers from Arab, Asian and African filmmakers across the globe are welcome to submit their films to the Red Sea Competition and Red Sea Shorts Competition. Saudi filmmakers can also apply to screen as part of New Saudi/New Cinema. Submissions will be viewed and selected by the Festival’s selection committee. RSFF aims to promote cross-cultural exchange and foster the growth of the Arab film industry, positioning Saudi Arabia as a key contributor to the international film industry.

2. Call for applications: International Alexandria Short Film Festival – 9th Edition

Attention aspiring filmmakers, submissions are now open to the 9th edition of Alexandria Short Film Festival! The Festival aims to provide a suitable atmosphere to exchange experiences between filmmakers from all over the world and give opportunities for short filmmakers to present their films whether narrative, documentary, or animation in front of the audience, with the aim of conducting fruitful discussions between the filmmaker and the audience and providing a safe platform for presenting their work.

The Festival accepts submissions of films in the following sections: Feature - Documentary – Animation.

Rules & Regulations:

- The film production date should be after January 1st, 2021.
- The film should not be premiered at any other screening platform in Egypt before its screening at the 9th edition of Alexandria Short Film Festival.
- Films that will be broadcast or made available, completely or partially, on any television channel, online, mobile phone, or other public display, will not be accepted before the closing of the ninth cycle, which will be February 2023.
- Films that were submitted to any previous editions of Alexandria Short Film Festival will be disqualified.
- The maximum duration of the eligible films is (30) minutes.

3. Call for submissions: International Film Festival Rotterdam 2023

Submissions are open for the 2023 International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) which will take place from 25 January until 5 February 2023.

The Festival accepts feature films, creative documentaries, experimental films, short and mid-length films and innovative visual productions for digital media.

Eligibility criteria:

1. All submissions should be completed after 1 January of the calendar year prior to the festival. For IFFR 2023, this means the film should be completed after 1 January 2022.

2. Films previously submitted to IFFR and not selected, will not be reconsidered for the 2023 Festival.

3. Films that have already screened in The Netherlands are excluded from submission to the festival.

4. Student films, with the exception of post-graduate works, are excluded from submission to the festival.

5. IFFR considers work-in-progress submissions, provided that the film can be finished in time for the festival. IFFR is not obliged to take into consideration new versions of the same submission.

Deadlines:

Feature films: 4 October 2022
Short and Mid-length films (up to 63 minutes)
Films (up to 63 min.) completed before 1 July: 23 August 2022
Films (up to 63 min.) completed after 1 July: 20 September 2022
VR/Immersive works: 20 September 2022

4. Call for submissions: Göteborg Film Festival 2023

Göteborg Film Festival is the leading film festival in Scandinavia and presents its 46th edition on 27th January until 5th February 2023.

The submissions of non-Swedish feature length films to the Festival are now open.

Swedish feature films, documentaries and shorts can be submitted from September 1, 2022 (deadline October 26).

Rules and regulations for non-Swedish submissions:

The submitted film must not have had its first public screening before January 1, 2022.

Any screening of the film in Sweden, or available to Swedish audiences online, prior to the Festival automatically disqualifies the film from selection.

All applications must be made through the Festival’s website. An application fee of 35 Euro is charged for all non-Swedish films.

Both the preview copy submitted and the exhibition DCP or 35mm print must be subtitled in English (if the original dialogue is not entirely in English).

The program committee’s decision of accepted/not accepted will be announced to all applicants on December 15, 2022 or earlier.

5. Call for submissions: The 12th American Documentary and Animation Film Festival and Film Fund

The 12th American Documentary and Animation Film Festival and Film Fund (AmDocs) will take place from 23rd until 27th Match 2023.

The Festival focuses on international films in both the short and feature categories as well as showcasing animation. Recipients of the Festival’s qualifying awards will be eligible for consideration in the Documentary Short Film category of the Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules. In conjunction with the festival is the American Documentary Film Fund where U.S. filmmakers compete for start-up or finishing funds in order to complete their film masterpieces.

AmDocs is open to all categories within the documentary and animation film genres. The film should not be more than 3 years old, though in certain circumstances, a retrospective may be screened and/or a "hidden gem" never seen before by public.

The regular deadline is on 14th of October 2022, and the late deadline is on 16th of December 2022.
