The Royal Film Commission Jordan | Promoting Filming in Jordan at a Ceremony in the United Kingdom

8 December 2018 - The Jordanian Embassy in London hosted a reception ceremony, on Friday, in cooperation with the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) and the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) to promote film tourism in Jordan to British and international cinema specialists.

British and Arab producers specialized in filmmaking attended the event along with British production companies as well as Jordanian and Arab producers.

The Jordanian Ambassador in London,  H.E. Omar Nahar, welcomed the guests indicating that the ceremony aims at introducing the filmmaking potential of the Hashemite Kingdom, the possibility of benefiting from it in order to create more jobs, promote sustainable economic development and achieve more success to the vital touristic sector.

George David, the Managing Director of the Royal Film Commission, said that the idea behind establishing the RFC was to develop the audio visual sector in the Kingdom through providing training and production services, thus creating job opportunities in various fields. He added that promoting Jordan as a filming destination contributes to reinforcing tourism in the Kingdom through films that were shot and that garnered international fame such as “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”, “The Martian”, “Theeb” and many others.

Jordan Tourism Board’s representative in the U.K,  Dr. Justin Abu Anzeh, expressed JTB’s appreciation of its partnership and cooperation with the RFC in jointly promoting film tourism in Jordan. He noted that the two organizations took part in “Focus” - a film trade event specialized in promoting filming locations - along with Jordanian film production companies, in order to promote what Jordan has to offer to attract film tourism. During the ceremony, a short film was screened showcasing the most important archaeological and religious sites in Jordan and the locations where international films were shot.
