1. Call for
Submissions:
Japan
Prize 2020 |
The Embassy
of Jordan in Japan invites eligible Jordanian organizations,
institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved
and/or specialized in the field of broadcasting, TV and film
production, and educational research to participate in the “Japan
Prize 2020” organized by NHK (one of Japan’s leading broadcasting
companies).
“Japan Prize” is an
international contest dedicated solely to educational content.
There are 2 ways to
participate:
1- By submitting your
educational audio visual content in the field of education.
- Purpose: to contribute
to the development of educational broadcasting and media worldwide
by awarding audiovisual content that shows high quality educational
effects.
- Eligible Participants:
Broadcasters, TV/Film production companies, Educational Research
Institutions and Established Non Profit Organizations.
- Each participant should
submit their educational audiovisual content that has
broadcasted/released/circulated between January 2019 and July 2020
in one of the following divisions: Preschool (up to 6 years);
Primary Division (6 to 12 years); Youth Division (12 to 18 years);
Lifelong Learning Division (18 years and above); Digital Media
Division (Pre-school/Primary or Youth/Lifelong Learning).
- A total of 10 prizes
will be awarded of up to $5,000 USD: Best Works in 5 Divisions,
Special Prizes, the Best and Excellent Proposals, and above all, the
Grand Prix Japan Prize.
2- By submitting your
audio-visual content proposal for a TV program with educational aims
- Purpose: In order to
contribute to the development of educational broadcasting around the
world, the Japan Prize supports the realization of ideas for
educational television programs in countries/regions with limited
budgets and/or technical facilities.
- Eligible Participants:
Broadcasters, TV/Film production companies, Educational Research
Institutions and Established Non Profit Organizations.
- Interested organizations
are required to submit their audio visual content proposal online to
the Organizing Committee.
- Proposals should target
a specific audience: Children (0 to 12 years old); Teens (12 to 18
years old); Adults (18 years and older).
- The proposal must
appropriately address the educational needs of the entering
country/region.
- The length of the
program can be up to 60 minutes.
- Organizations are
required to produce and broadcast the proposed program within the
year following receipt of the prize, and to report the progress of
the production to the organizer.
- 2 Prizes will be awarded
($10,000 USD and $6,000 USD)
- The proposal must be
realistically producible with the JAPAN PRIZE prize money alone or
with any additional funds, and the completed program must be
broadcast by September 30, 2021 in the entrant's own country/region,
if the proposal wins the prize.

2. Call for
Submissions:
Carthage Film Festival (JCC) |
The Carthage Film Festival, also known by its
French acronym JCC (Journées
Cinémtographiques de Carthage), is an annual event whose main
objective is to showcase and promote African and Arab films.
JCC accepts feature films, animated films and short
or long documentaries.
The official JCC program includes the following sections:
- Official Competition: open to long and short African and Arab
narrative or animation movies.
- Official Competition for Documentaries: open to long and short
African and Arab documentary films.
- Official Selection out of competition section: open to long and
short African and Arab Narrative or Animation or Documentary films.
Parallel sections: Cinema of the World, Tributes, Special and Other
Sessions CINEMA OF THE open to short and long films regardless of
their origin or their genres (feature, animation, documentary)

Call for Submissions: Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) |
The Cairo
International Film Festival (CIFF) is now accepting submissions for
its 42nd edition, which is scheduled to be held from 19-28 November
2020.
For this edition,
CIFF will apply the Gender Parity Pledge 50 -50×2020, where the
festival will be committed to promoting gender equality and
transparency in film-related events, to become the first Arab
festival (and second African) to join this commitment launched
during Cannes Film Festival in 2018.
During the 2019 edition, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and
Sciences (AMPAS) awarded the Festival OSCAR® qualifying film
festival status. This year the Best Short Film in the ‘Cinema of
Tomorrow’ competition will be eligible to compete in the Animated
and Live Action Short Film category of the Academy Awards.
Submissions will be open from 2 June,
accepting applications from participants all over the world, through
the CIFF’s official website

4.
Call for Submissions: TFL Next - Audience Design |
TorinoFilmLab
announces TFL Next, a new TorinoFilmLab initiative offering a
package of intensive, online workshops. These are carefully crafted
to be able to meet the participants' needs in a direct way, working
with high-level international tutors.
About TFL Next
– Audience Design:
TFL Next –
Audience Design is an online intensive workshop addressed to
international film, media and digital professionals wishing to gain
solid hands-on experience within a workshop framework, creating
audience engagement strategies for feature film projects in various
stages of development. The workshop aims at sharing insights and
tools into steps that help build a concrete strategy to later
support a film’s sales and distribution.
Four Audience
Designer trainees will work as a group and individually on feature
film projects awarded with the TFL Audience Design Fund and the new
Audience Design Award – by WCF Europe & TFL.
Who can apply?
TFL Next –
Audience Design is aimed at film, media and digital professionals
from all over the world, interested in gaining an insight into
audience design strategies.
The working
language of all workshops, meetings and events is English; thus, a
good knowledge of English is essential in order to participate.
The project
awarded with the Audience Design Award – by WCF Europe & TFL as well
as the 4 Audience Designer trainees will be announced by the end of
July.
Participation
fees
Course
participation fee: 800 Euro (+VAT, if due).
TorinoFilmLab
doesn’t provide any scholarships for this workshop. In many
countries, public institutions make scholarships available for this
kind of training.
How to apply?
The requested
materials – to be submitted all together in one PDF, and all in
English – are:
- an updated CV
including a short summary biography (max. 2 pages)
- a motivational letter – why do you want to take part (max. 1 page)
- a short text about what the workshop can give you in your
current/future line of work, how you understand Audience Design &
what your experience brings to the group work (max. 1 page)
- examples of previous work and/or links to websites/images/videos
(if available)
Applications that
don’t respect the above-listed criteria will be rejected. The list
of selected participants will be communicated by the end of July.

5.
Call for Submissions: Nickelodeon Writing Program |
In the Program,
writers receive hands-on experience writing spec scripts and
pitching story ideas in both live action and animated television.
They also meet the series creators, story editors and show runners,
as well as work in writers’ rooms, attend pitches, records, show
tapings and more, and they write a lot too, all while being provided
a salaried position for up to six months!
Script Guidelines:
- All applicants
must submit a spec script and an original comedy pilot that adheres
to the following guidelines:
- Must be based on
a half-hour television series from the Accepted Shows List
- Must be Comedic; either Live Action or Animation
- Typed in standard Final Draft (or equivalent) script format
- In black type
- In 12pt courier style font
- Do not upload a cover page with your script.
The following
materials will not be considered:
Feature-length
screenplays, hour-long dramas, reality-based comedies or dramas,
treatments, outlines, plays, short stories, books, graphics,
magazine/newspaper articles, poems, headshots, audio/video tapes, or
other digital media.

Submissions: Portland Film Festival |
The Portland Film
Festival is an established Portland’s leading film non-profit, with
hundreds of screenings, events, education programs and community
partnerships. The festivals hosts dozens of film and television
professionals, offering filmmakers a chance to forge new
relationships across the industry.
Featuring a rich program of films in
the Fiction, Non-Fiction, World Cinema, Transmedia, Short and
Student Filmmaking categories, as well as a program dedicated to the
work of filmmakers from Portland, the Portland Festival offers
emerging and established artists to present their films in a
world-class screening environment, with curated competitions,
Audience Awards, and opportunities to reach attending members of the
national press.

7. Call for Submissions: The Screenwriter Showcase |
The Screenwriter
Showcase, based at Pinewood Studios, is a quarterly event aimed at
enriching through workshopping new scripts from unsung global
talent, introducing producers to screenwriters, all with the aim of
bringing your work to life!
The event consists primarily of a
script reading with professional actors at the headquarters in
Pinewood Studios- home of blockbuster franchises such as James Bond
and Star Wars. This is followed from feedback by everyone in the
room, including co-founders Ben Pohlman and James Bradley.
Submission
level:
- Free ebook to
all who submit
- Instant access to the Lift-Off database of screenplays where
directors might option your work for their next project(s)
Selection:
- You will be
invited to Pinewood Studios, where you will meet with the Lift-Off
team and community members to read, workshop, and provide unique

Call for Submissions: The Cinematographer Showcase |
The Lift-Off Global
Network exists with the aim of launching filmmakers careers. The
Cinematographer's Showcase is an event held at Pinewood Studios,
which aims to celebrate and nurture those applying their
cinematography abilities to create bold and innovative films. It
incorporates screenings, discussions, feedback and guidance to
support cinematographers and filmmakers venturing into the exciting
world of independent film.
There will be opportunities
throughout the day to have your questions answered as well as
enabling any filmmakers who attend the event to forge long lasting
relationships which will be essential in the future! Filmmakers will
also have the opportunity to have a one-on-one meet and greet with
the Lift-Off Co-founders James Bradley and Ben Pohlman.
Awards &
Prizes:
- All filmmakers
who are selected for The Cinematographer's Showcase will have their
film screened at the home of Lift-Off’s Annual Season Awards!
- The winner will
screen at a Lift-Off international city-based festival of their
choice.
- On top of this,
is the huge potential of being invited to be part of one of the many
upcoming Lift-Off productions planned for 2019 and beyond. With the
instant usage of our production equipment valued over $75,000.
Rules & Terms:
All films must
have a runtime of 45 minutes or less.
