Subject: The Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC) is pleased to announce a series of lectures on “Cinema Studies”- conducted by the Jordanian film director & cinema researcher Adnan Madanat.
Duration: Once a month, for 11 months – starting from February 2017.
Date & Time: Last week of every month, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
1st session will be on Sunday the 26th of February 2017 at 5 p.m.
Location: The Film House (RFC), Jabal Amman 1st Circle – 5 Omar Bin el-Khattab St.
This series of lectures will take place over 11 months, once at the end of each month from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. It will tackle various cinema topics related to the narrative structure in cinema and television in addition to the mise-en-scène in the language of cinema. The lectures cover different film genres from different countries including: major films in cinema history, prominent international filmmakers, various trends in world cinema, etc. Lectures will include film screenings so that participants get a better understanding of how a particular philosophy or world vision is communicated through cinematic language and expression.
The larger purpose of the course is to familiarize participants with a large spectrum of classical, contemporary, mainstream and experimental films. More importantly, they can help filmmakers take the appropriate decision while doing their own films.
Instructor: Film director & cinema researcher Adnan Madanat.
Madanat graduated in 1970 from Moscow University specializing in Cinema & Television.
He directed five documentaries in the 70’s; wrote the TV film script “An Unusual Visit”, which was directed by Najdat Anzour; wrote the Jordanian feature-length narrative film “Oriental story” also directed by Najdat Anzour in 1991; wrote and prepared the TV program “A Film from a Book”; wrote the TV program “White and black” produced by Arab Telemedia Group. Moreover, he wrote film critiques in various journals and newspapers and have several publications about cinema.

This course is aimed at: Filmmakers, film students and anyone who is interested in Cinema Studies and Cinematic Arts.
