El Jeremías

Set in the northern state of Sonora, Mexico, Jeremías, a misfit eight-year-old, realises he is a gifted child and initiates a journey of self-discovery to find out what he wants to be when he grows up. When an opportunistic physiologist makes contact with Jeremías, a new world of experiences opens up to him, but for that he is taken away from his ignorant and poor family whom he loves.

“El Jeremías” is a heartwarming comedy film about family love and the hard choices that come with opportunity.

The film has won several awards including: Ariel Award for Best New Actor, Stories from Abroad Award at Austin Film Festival, Filmmakers under 30 years old Prize and Press award at Guadalajara International Film Festival and the Audience Award at Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival. The film was premiered at the 30th Guadalajara International Film Festival, in 2015, and received nine nominations at the 58th Ariel Awards including Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. It was included in the shortlist for Mexico's entry to the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.

The Last Stop (A Última Estação)

June 1950: The film follows the story of Tarik, a Lebanese boy that is forced to leave his homeland involved in a war that erupted in the Middle East, and migrate with the family to Brazil in search of a better life.

On the journey by ship, he befriends other young Arabs, but when they reach Brazil, each goes in a different way. After 50 years, Tarik, with the help of his daughter, resolves to find the friends of the trip. Each stop on this long journey will reveal a fabulous truth.

“The Last Stop” was screened at Festival de Brasília, São Paulo International Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival and Cine Las Americas International Film Festival in Austin - Texas.
