Filming Procedure

Filming guideline during COVID-19 pandemic

The Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC), motivated by its belief in the economic and reputational impact of the filming industry, in Jordan, prepared a new guidelines to pave the way for a secure and safe working environment under COVID-19 for all parties (both local and International) involved in filming in Jordan.

In line with the Government’s efforts to revive the economy, the RFC has conducted a comprehensive study to understand international procedures globally adapted to resume production operations during COVID-19 pandemic. Based on this study, the RFC created the below clear guidelines to secure a safe working environment for local and international production companies with the least possible risks. This guidelines aims to:

  • Provide the film industry with a framework to enable mobilization of productions of any size in a coordinated and, above all, safe manner
  • Feed into the audio-visual sector’s recovery efforts.

The Royal Film Commission-Jordan is dedicated to providing productions with comprehensive services that include:
  • Provision of detailed and fast information about filming in Jordan.
  • Assistance in obtaining necessary permits.
  • Assistance in location scouting with knowledge of all locations.
  • Assistance in customs clearance for technical equipment.
  • Assistance in casting and recruiting local crew and extras at competitive rates throughout the Production Directory. 
  • Facilitation access to production services, facilities and equipment.
  • Liaison with private and public sector entities.

Guidelines

Mosques, Islamic sites and sites under jurisdiction of Ministry Of Awqaf And Islamic Affairs

No specific Duration

RFC issues a letter to the concerned department for the production team to take the original copy to follow on the permit directly with them.

Public parks and places under the jurisdiction of Amman Governor and Greater Amman Municipality.

Schools and locations under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Education.

Museums and locations under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Culture such as (Museum of Parliamentary Life… Etc).

Syrian refugee Camps and locations under the jurisdiction of Ministry Interior

Duration: 14 to 20 Working days

Palestinian Refugee Camps and locations under the jurisdiction of the Department of Palestinian Affairs.

Duration: 21 to 30 Working days

Petra.

Duration: 20 Working days

Reserves and Valleys under the Jurisdiction of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN).

Duration: 10 to 14 Working days

Drone Filming.

Duration: 30 Working days

Importing Equipment into the Kingdom (Other than Drone).

Duration: 5 Working days

Requirements from the Public Security Directorate.

Duration: 20 to 30 Working days

Requirements from the Civil Defense

Duration: 14 to 20 Working days

Requesting 3 months visa from the Directorate of Residence and Borders

Duration: 5 Working days

Using Weapons, explosives, flags, signs and army clothes.

Duration: 30 Working days

Satellite phones and Radios permit form Telecommunication Regulatory Commission

Duration: 30 Working days

Scout Permit

Duration: 5 Workings days for public locations in the kingdom that doesn’t need prior approval




























































































Some locations should be scheduled on a certain time and date.
Most public locations in Jordan are free of charge.
